Beau Diako Releases Eclectic Debut EP, “Flutter”
The term genre-defying is often thrown around when people can’t neatly place a song or artist into a pre-defined category. Artists that draw from different styles of music and write with a large palette of influences may require more than just a casual listen to really understand all that they have to offer. British producer and guitarist Beau Diako has released his debut EP, “Flutter”, and it is without a doubt, genre-defying.
The EP features an inspiring array of talent including Kenyan R&B artist emawk, Australian multi-instrumentalist Totu (Tobias Tunis-Plant), Los Angeles singer-songwriter Raelee Nikole, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Jordan Rakei, and the Quebec based pop-artist Claudia Bouvette.
The “Flutter” EP is an eclectic journey that is rooted in the beautiful guitar work of Beau Diako. Layered textures, ethnic percussion, jazz harmonies, memorable hooks and electronic flourishes all swirl together into something that is unique and playlist worthy.
The standout track for us is “Flamingo” which features vocalist Jordan Rakei. The track is all melody and vibe and comes in at only 2 minutes and 57 seconds. You’ll need to put this one on loop!
“Flamingo is probably the closest I can get to making a pop song. It was written quite a few years ago and was one of the first full tracks I made and produced. I was still in a zone of trying to make music that was bright and accessible after a previous project and wanted something that people could move to. It was fun to make some hectic guitar layers sound simple and light whilst using weird foley sounds to replace drums to go along with the tropical imagery I had for the song.
A few months later I sent this track to my friend Jordan Rakei after we had been writing for his album Origin, and he came back with the perfect vocal.” – Beau Diako
“It’s always great working with Beau. He’s always been the secret piece to a lot of other people’s music, and it’s so good to jump on his debut release! It’s his time to shine!”- Jordan Rakei
