Songs that have dark, lyrical themes, with uplifting, hopeful melodies are magnetic. They pull at one side of you while at the same time try to push you away. We are attracted and repelled depending on what angle you approach it from. “Under”, the new single by alt-pop singer-songwriter golda, is a dark magnet. Vulnerable lyrics that beg for an emotional release are balanced with a captivating vocal performance that is surrounded by light and hope. golda is the real deal.

Born to Ukrainian parents who only spoke Russian, golda discovered her love of music at an early age with opera. As she honed her skills in college, golda began writing for other artists before making the decision to release music under her own name.

“When I was 22, I worked as an assistant for a music manager who sort of ‘discovered’ me as a songwriter and started developing me, leading me to get really involved in the L.A. pop-writing scene. I turned my attention to my own artist project after really missing writing songs that felt like me, like golda.”

“Under” by golda is out now and one of our favorite tracks of the month.
