Vargas & Lagola, the Swedish songwriting and production duo of Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir, have released their debut album, “The Butterfly Effect”. Vargas & Lagola have been writing and creating hits for years for artists like Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Katy Perry, Madonna, Ghost, and A$AP Rocky, but this is their first full album under their own name. It was worth the wait!

Inspired by everything from Chicago, Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, and 90s Hip-Hop, Vargas & Lagola made a conscious effort to work with live instruments on this album instead of relying heavily on programming. The result is an eclectic mix of timeless pop music from artists at the top of their game. From the psychedelic grooves of “Darkest Before The Dawn” to the 70s acoustic pop sounds on “Hurts To Be Hurt”, “The Butterfly Effect” is a rare gem full of lush reverb, quirky guitar tones, and infectious beats. The album also features guest collaborations with Wu-Tang Clan veteran Ghostface Killah and Grammy award-winning producer Ludwig Göransson.

On “The Butterfly Effect” Vargas & Lagola said:

“This first album is our attempt to give the outside world a more nuanced palette of our musical landscape, and it really means the world to us to finally share it. We try not to set any boundaries for our work. Most songs that we like are based on a similar mindset and construction, and in the end, the most important thing isn’t if they come out as hip hop, pop or rock.”
